Previous Assistant Coach Files Lawsuit Against Team
As reported by Global News, former assistant coach Brad Lukowichthe for the Lethbridge Hurricanes is now suing his old team for nearly $108,000 plus damages in compensation. The documents received by Global News confirm Lukowich is suing the Hurricanes for “wrongful dismissal.” The Hurricanes organization, did not offer any further comments on the upcoming lawsuit. In a similar manner, Lukowich also stated he would not comment until the lawsuit is settled in court.
Lukowich was terminated from the team in mid-February. Officially, the Hurricanes described his absence as an illness before clarifying that the team had indeed fired Lukowich with cause on Febraury 8, 2014.
Lukowich’s was labelled as having a history of mental illness, an accusation which the former assistant coach denies. Lukowich commented that he brought his concerns to the Hurricanes management about non-compliance with WHL policies by members of the coach staff.
The Hurricanes hired Lukowich as an assistant coach to Drake Berehowsky prior to the 2013/2014 season.
